at the DMFM

We welcome producers of handmade items that can be consumed, such as bread, jam/jelly, beverages, etc. Food products must be produced in accordance with the MI Cottage Food Law, out of a licensed kitchen, or via a temporary Health Department Food License.

Options for Selling Prepared Foods

  • Vendor selling baked goods at the market

    Cook at home!


    Make prepared food in your own home to sell at the market. Must be non-potentially hazardous foods that do not require time and/or temperature controls for safety. Product must be properly labeled. Cottage Food CAN NOT be sold online!

    Cook on-site at the Market!


    Cook and prepare ready-to-eat food at the market. On-site inspection required. Contact the Marquette County Health Department : 906-475-4195

    Special Transitory Food Unit License

    Cook on-site at the Market!

    A state-wide, renewable license for mobile food trucks or trailers that allows operation without returning to a fixed commissary every 24 hours or adhering to 14-day limits. Contact the Marquette County Health Department: 906-475-4195

    Licensed Kitchen

    Rent kitchen space.


    Make prepared food in a licensed kitchen to sell at the market. It is the responsibility of the market vendor to seek out an appropriate space and make arrangements accordingly.
